  1. Great campground. Ive been coming here since the early 1980s. Perfect if you like hiking. Clean facilities. Family friendly. Only drawback: trucks downshifting on route 3 at night.

  2. Very nice state campground. The people at the desk were not very knowledgeable about upcoming weather other than the daily weather report. Nice educational programs offered by volunteers. Easy access to fantastic bike and hiking trails. Nestled in next to loads of fun.

  3. Come for the day hikes, not the quiet camping experience. Campground is close to the highway, and you’ll hear it — all the time. Sites 1-16 all surround the playground, great for families with kids. If you don’t have children, reserve a higher (and quieter) site number. Bathrooms were all well maintained, coin op showers. No dump station on site, so you’ll come out with heavy tanks. Lafayette Campground is a good launch for lots of biking and walking trails, and some more challenging hikes.

  4. Great outdoor feel. Water is available in multiple locations, 5 quarters to get a shower, and right off the trail/12 mile asphalt bikepath. This campground is a bikeride, hike, or climb away from a lot of what NH has to offer.

  5. This is such a beautiful place, with great trails on the doorstep. The lonesome lake trail was very picturesque and a fun 3 hour round trip. The staff are the best thing about this campsite though. They couldn’t be more helpful and offered to fix our broken down car, even though we weren’t camping. Thank you!
